Ceramic implants – the future in Implantology
Due to their outstanding biocompatability, implants made of ceramics most likely resemble natural teeth. The material zirconium oxide is 100% metal free and is perfectly integrated by the body. A bio-corrosion, which, according to latest studies is possible with implants made of titanium, can be ruled out.
Implants made of ceramics meet all requirements regarding aesthetics. A show-through of grey through the gums, as sometimes spotted with implants made of titanium, is avoided by the white colouring of the ceramics. Inflammations surrounding the implant (Periimplantatis) are reduced significantly and furthermore not mentioned in literature.
The reasons lie in a low deposit of bacteria and a circulation around the implant similar to the circulation around the natural tooth. Fractures that have at times been spotted in the beginnings of ceramics plantology are no longer a factor with modern high-performance ceramics, due to a rapid technological development. After 5 years of observation time, the average success rate of 97% is on thr same level with implants of titanium.
Thus teeth can be replaced completely metal free and fixed combined with full ceramic crowns.
These days implants made of ceramics are on the same level with implants made of titanium, and are therefore a long-term safe and biologically perfect treatment option in our doctor’s office.
