Implants – made for everyone?
Implants are possible when the bones are fully grown – at an age of approximately 20 years. Nevertheless, there have to be enough jaw bones of good quality and the random medical circumstances have to be given. If this is the case, there are no age restrictions upwards
Nevertheless, there are limitations, for example, with patients who suffer from diabetes or osteoporosis. If this is the case, there will be an internistic check beforehand. If the patient is a strong smoker the indications for implants have to be chosen carefully as well.
Although it has a high bio-compatibility, according to latest studies titanium is not compatible for everybody. In certain cases there can be a so-called “titanium intolerance”. The titanium stimulation test will give further information on the compatibility.
