Bone augmentation

Too few bones of your own
An implant has a certain diameter in its cylindrical shape. If the patient's own bone is narrower than this diameter or if other defects are present, new bone must be created so that the implant surface is fully anchored in the bone.
This bone augmentation is called "Augmentation" or also "GBR - Guided Bone Regeneration".

The patient's own bone is too narrow for the implant or the implant surface is not completely covered by bone.

The missing area is filled with artificial bone and covered with a collagen membrane as protection.

Artificial bone and membrane are broken down by the body and replaced by the patient's own bone within 3-6 months.
