Prevention means prevention
In many fields of medicine, prevention (prophylaxis) is operated such as oral vaccines against polio = prevention or cancer screening = prevention.
In dentistry, it is a preventive against caries and gum disease (periodontitis =), unfortunately, most patients know too little about this.
Here are a few numbers (worldwide):
Caries and periodontal disease are the national epidemic No. 1 and unfortunately the most common diseases in general – not just of the teeth.
- approximately 95% of the population are suffering from this disease and carry the pathogen.
- Only 36% of 6-year-old have healthy bites
- 13%! of the total population aged 14 years have a full denture!
Nowadays tooth decay and gum disease are almost 100% preventable!
Let’s work on it together!
Caries and periodontal disease are infectious diseases!
It has been clearly established in many scientific studies that dental caries is an infectious bacterial disease, which is caused inter alia by Streptococcus mutans bacteria, which each person has present and accordingly which is also transferable.
So these bacteria are passed for example from the mother to the child, which explains the incidence of family specific caries.
The goal must therefore be to reduce bacteria – by your cooperation and by special prevention programs in our practice!
