What are “crowns”?
If the tooth is too badly damaged by tooth decay or root treatments, a permanent preservation of the tooth can no longer be achieved solely using fillings. In the long term good prognosis crowns are used as a protection and as a replacement of the tooth structure for individual teeth.
The tooth is ground and an impression made from this “preparation”, which is then filled with special gypsum. Depending on esthetic requirements, the dental lab produces the crowns with or without metal (gold alloys).
