What are “Partial- and Full dentures”?
Partial dentures
Partial dentures missing one or more teeth in a jaw, they can be replaced as a non-surgical alternative to implants with a removable “partial denture“.
The components are: the replacement teeth made of plastic or ceramic, the base using tooth-colored plastic and / or steel and anchoring abutment element, with which the prosthesis is attached to the natural teeth. Especially for these holding elements there is a large variety of options from simple “clip” on “attachment” to “telescopes”, which each affect the wearing comfort and the resulting quality of life.
Full dentures
If all teeth are missing on a jaw line, the only solution still left is a full denture … in so far as implants are waived.
A full denture keeps to the jaw ideally by vacuum like a sucker. Although one might think that it would be difficult due to gravity, to give an upper denture sufficient support, the opposite is the case. The maintenance of a properly-built upper denture is usually good, the grip even a properly-made lower denture is often unsatisfactory. This will reflect the smaller contact area and the enormous mobility of the tongue.
