Laser dentistry
Laser has become an integral part of modern medicine. Laser has also been used in dentistry for 30 years. But only in recent years was laser technology for dentistry refined in such a way that it could be kept as a modern method of treatment in daily practice. Its most well-known application option – “drilling” with the laser – is unfortunately still so far in its infancy despite misleading reports in the media that this area is more suited to marketing than practical use.
However, many treatments in our practice are already performed using the laser painlessly, quickly, and very gently.
Areas of application
Periodontal (gum treatments)
Due to the bactericidal (decontaminating) effect of the laser beam, in many cases this can be treated without surgery. After removing tartar and plaque, the thin laser probe is inserted into the bottom of the bacterial populated gingival pocket. There, the laser beam eliminates the aggressive periodontitis germs, thus creating the conditions for healing gum disease. Scientific studies have shown that laser therapy significantly improves the prognosis of periodontitis.
Root canals
Again, the laser beam is used for reducing and destroying germs in the root canal. Root canal treatment is faster and much safer.
Surgery
Many operations are possible without a scalpel, an injection, bleeding, sutures and post-surgery problems using the laser
Other areas
General pain, mouth ulcers/cold sores, overly sensitive tooth necks, supporting wound healing, sterilisation, implant dentistry, whitening individual teeth, and much more
